What to Expect at an Architectural Photography Session

Photographing a completed building or interior project is one of the most important investments you can make in your portfolio. Here's what to expect when you book an architectural photography session.

Before the Shoot

Timing matters. We'll coordinate around punch list completion, final furnishing, and landscaping. For spaces with significant natural light, I plan around the time of day and season for optimal conditions. Spring and fall tend to offer the best quality of light in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut.

Prepare the space. I'll send you a preparation checklist, but in general: remove construction debris, clean all surfaces, stage furniture and accessories intentionally, and turn on all interior lighting so we can evaluate it together.

Shot list. We'll discuss which images are most important for your goals -- whether that's an award submission, your website, a publication pitch, or marketing materials. I come prepared with a plan but remain flexible on site.

On Shoot Day

A typical residential project takes half a day. Commercial spaces may require a full day. I work methodically through the space, capturing:

- **Wide establishing shots** that show spatial flow and proportion

- **Mid-range compositions** highlighting design details and material choices

- **Detail close-ups** of finishes, hardware, texture, and craftsmanship

- **Exterior views** showing the building in its landscape context

I shoot tethered when possible so you can review compositions in real time.

After the Shoot

Expect delivery within 1-2 weeks. Every image is professionally retouched with perspective correction, color accuracy, and clean delivery. Files come in high-resolution formats ready for print, web, and publication.
